Dr. Darding’s goal for each patient is to either keep them moving or to get them back to moving again. She often includes physical therapy in her treatment plans, using massage, heat treatment, and exercise to reduce swelling and pain and to improve mobility. Dr. D uses the most modern techniques and equipment in each of her care plans.
Laser Therapy
Laser treatment uses laser light to stimulate cells and regenerate damaged tissue. This type of therapy is used to promote faster healing of injuries such as strains and sprains, and for pain relief in those suffering from conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia.
Electrical Stimulation (Estim)
Electrical stimulation uses electrical pulses to relieve pain and aid in muscle and joint recovery. Dr. Darding often uses estim in patients after joint surgeries and muscle injuries.
Ultrasound Therapy
Using waves of acoustic energy, ultrasound therapy produces thermal effects that increase blood flow, reduce stiffness and spasm, and increase joint flexibility, as well as non-thermal effects that regenerate tissue and reduce swelling.
Spinal Traction
Spinal traction is a form of decompression that relieves pressure on the spine. Dr. Darding uses both manual and mechanical spinal traction to treat herniated discs, degenerative disc disease, sciatica and other painful conditions.
Active Release Therapy
Active Release Therapy treats overused muscles with a patented massage technique. The active release technique can relieve headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints and shoulder pain.
Myofascial Release Therapy
Dr. Darding uses Myofascial Release therapy to treat skeletal muscle immobility and pain. This method works by relaxing contracted muscles, improving blood circulation, and stimulating muscle reflexes.
Thermography
Thermographic imaging is a way for chiropractors to see where pain or imbalance in the spine may be. A scan detects temperatures along the spine, with higher temperature areas indicating pain. By reviewing thermographic images along with a patient’s description of the pain, Dr. D is able to pinpoint a location to focus her treatment.
Surface ElectroMyoGraphy (sEMG)
Surface Electromyography, or sEmG, is a device that measures the amount of electrical activity your muscles release when they contract – which most of us refer to as muscle tension. Chiropractors use sEMG to detect tight muscles that result from subluxations and help to reduce spasm to aid in muscle recovery.
